All women reach menopause and two thirds develop menopausal symptoms. Given the results of the Women's Health Initiative, many women are reluctant to use hormonal treatments. In this workshop, we discuss commonly used alternatives to hormonal treatments such as black cohosh, soy, red clover, chaste tree, licorice, St. John's wort, and tang kuei (dang gui). We discuss treating commonly seen symptoms such as hot flashes, irregular periods, vaginal dryness, sleep disturbances, mood swings, thinning hair and decreased libido.
